Why did you decide to specialise as a midwife?
Ever since I started studying it was very clear to me that I wanted to be a midwife. I like contact with women, you have to be very empathic, give a strong sense of confidence, help the woman in that moment when she feels she is not prepared to give birth. I thought I would be able to give that confidence that women need at that very specific time.
What functions have you been assigned?
I was in charge, along with my supervisor, to take care of the health of pregnant women, from birth assistance to the after-birth follow-up. Every birth here has been special, I had always lived them in a language different of my own, to be able to experience them and talk to the mothers has been a really good experience to me. I remember every follow-up and every childbirth we have assisted.
How would you describe your practical training at the Policlínica?
The experience I have had here is very positive, the team around me has always been lovely, always available to help and always smiling. I believe this is essential, because in the end, techniques are just knowledge you can learn everywhere, but finding people who are able to make you feel part of the team is very important.
