Accreditation and Recognition of the Degree

European Union:

The Bologna Process was implemented at the University of Pécs back in 2006. Thanks to this process, all the programs offered by the university are recognized in all EU and EEA countries.

The university has also implemented the credits transfer system (ECTS) which allows students to be able to transfer to another European University after the completion of at least 60 ECTS (or the ones corresponding to the first year of studies).

USA:

Students who graduate in Medicine (international program) at the University of Pécs are also eligible to sit the USMLE; the examination to obtain the medical license in the USA. The Faculty of Medicine is also recognized by the ECFMG, the North American institution in charge of recognizing foreign medical Diplomas of Medicine.

Hungarian Top Diploma 2008 First Place in the category “Best Institution of Higher Education”

The special edition of HVG (Weekly World Economy) published the official results of the annual OFIK (Hungarian Information Centre of Higher Education) survey in November 2007. The Medical School of the University of Pécs was the absolute winner and left 166 other institutions behind.
This amazing result is the happy outcome of the values that students and professors have been able to create, the excellent professional qualifications, and the high level of training and satisfaction with the services of the School, and also thanks to the very positive opinion of the students. They consider their diplomas to be a huge advantage on the job market. We have achieved this leading place thanks to the constant effort and the sound strategy of the School. All of the knowledge and energy invested have finally yielded results.

“Centre of Excellence”

The Hungarian Accreditation Commitee (in short: HAC) began in 2004 with the so-called parallel accreditation investigations: in this framework, various colleges and universities were evaluated in the same areas of education (History, Psychology, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Law). As a result of these audits, the Medical School of the Univerity of Pécs received the title Centre of Excellence. The MAB, with experts from other countries, gave this title only to the best higher education facilities at the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference on the 12th of June 2006. The Institute will own this title until the 30th of June 2011.

Quality Norm ISO 9001:2001

The activities of the School of Medicine of the University of Pécs were audited in the spring of 2007 by the CERTOP Institute and, according to its studies, the institute was compatible with the norm ISO 9001:2001. Independent experts have confirmed that the School of Medicine meets national and international standards. The efficiency of the institution is periodically revised. This certificate enables the improvement of internal and external assessment at the Faculty of Medicine, it increases the efficiency and the efficacy of the processes, and it confirms the reliability of the service in the international market.
