Faculty of Medicine – Semmelweis University

The degree in Medicine at Semmelweis is listed by the WHO and, of course, it is also recognised by every member of the EU without exception. The study programme ends with the title of Doctor in Medicine (Dr. med.) and lasts for six years: the first two years are devoted to the general study of Medicine, followed by three years of clinical study and one year of clinical rotations.

The international study programme which began in 1983 accepts every year more than 200 foreign students. Many of them come from the USA, Spain, Norway, Israel, Iran and Cyprus, among many other countries.

Semmelweis University is always searching for motivated candidates who have a sound knowledge of biology and chemistry, as well as a good command of English. They organise admission tests that are held at different dates. The first one takes place at the beginning of the year, where a high number of students are usually admitted. The applying period ends in June and the lessons begin in September.
