The representatives of the Asklepios Campus Hamburg (ACH) in Germany have just recently visited the “Researchers’ Salon” of the Semmelweis University. During this meeting, vice-rector Dr. György Bagdy once again emphasized the importance of the cooperation between the university in Budapest and the Asklepios Campus Hamburg.
The close relationship with the Asklepios Campus Hamburg is, according to Dr. György Bagdy, one of the most important cooperations of the Semmelweis and the most important off-campus: “The university has always attached great value to international cooperations. Now we want to extend the scope of the cooperation with the Asklepios Campus Hamburg, especially in the field of PhD studies”, he added.
The host of the salon, Dr. László Hunyady the dean of the medical faculty, particularly supported this goal in his speech once again. The Researchers’ Salon is an excellent opportunity in order to get to know each other’s researchers activities and fields of interest: “Asklepios is one of the leading German health care providers with all in all 45.000 employees, 27.000 beds and 2.2 million patients each year. The joint medical program exists since 2008. With this dual structure, the theoretical training is taking place in Budapest and the clinical phase in Hamburg. This is a unique education model in Europe, which allows a cooperation between a public university and a private health care provider.”, said Dr. László Hunyady.
Dr. Andrea Morgner-Miehlke, from the Asklepios Campus Hamburg, has given an outlook on the future research activities of the Asklepios Clinical Group. Currently, they are running more than 500 active research projects, out of which 70% are clinical studies, but they are also conducting basic research. “The main areas of our research are cardiovascular diseases, hematology, oncology and neurology. It is our goal to further develop and strengthen the cooperation with the Semmelweis University in these fields. Together we can apply for grants and implement new research models.”, emphasized Dr. Andrea Morgner-Miehlke.
The Semmelweis University is therefore a great place to study for international students, since you will not only get a holistic theoretical training, but you will also get the chance to practice at one of the leading German health care providers. If you want to start your medical studies abroad, we can highly recommend the Semmelweis University to you.
